PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda, also known as PT PIM, is a subsidiary of PT Pusri (Ltd) that operates in the chemical industry, particularly producing urea fertilizers and ammonia.

PT PIM grows among the nation’s spirit of self-help and self-developing in science, engineering and technology; and with that, PT PIM became the first large-scaled fertilizer plant built by the Indonesians who worked with national contractor PT Rekayasa Industri in 1982.

PT PIM works with strategies to meet the needs for urea fertilizers in the western part of Indonesia, which geographically includes Indonesia’s growing agricultural region. Pioneered by PT Pusri Palembang in supplying fertilizers in southern Sumatera, PT PIM was then built to meet the needs for fertilizer for the farmers and large plantation area in northern Sumatera (Aceh province, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, Riau and Riau Archipelago). PT PIM will also facilitate the export markets of surplus products to the neighboring countries since they are topographically close.

By making use of the large natural gas supplies found in the Arun Village, North Aceh Regency, as well as the water source that flows from the mountains in Aceh through Peusangan River, PT PIM who operates with the same capacity as other fertilizer factories built by the government (that is 570,000 tons / year and ammonia in the amount of 386,000 tons / year), is the 11th urea fertilizer factory in Indonesia.

PT PIM currently has 2 units of factories that produce prilled urea and granular urea with the same capacity. Both types are produced to supply urea fertilizers in this region in every year and can even be exported through its own port facilities.

PT PIM which is located within 274 KM south east of Banda Aceh or 335 KM northwest of Medan, can be reached by land, sea or air. It is located in Lhokseumawe’s industrial area right on the edge of Strait of Malacca, one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world. This means that PT PIM is located in a highly prospective region favorable for business development. Furthermore, it is situated right in the heart of Aceh province that has great potential in agriculture, plantation and fishery, which completes the location benefits of PT PIM as the company continues to progress and develop in the future.
